Western digital hdd price manufacturers

Western Digital uses a color-coded system to define usage scenarios. WD Blue is for general-purpose computing; WD Black targets high-performance gaming and workstations; WD Red is specifically engineered for NAS (Network Attached Storage) environments with 24/7 operation; WD Purple is optimized for surveillance systems with AllFrame technology to reduce frame loss; and WD Gold is designed for enterprise-class data centers with the highest reliability and workload ratings.

Buyers must verify the Interface (SATA 6Gb/s or SAS), Rotational Speed (5400 RPM vs. 7200 RPM), and Cache Size (typically 64MB to 512MB). Crucially, check the recording technology: CMR (Conventional Magnetic Recording) is preferred for heavy write workloads and RAID arrays, whereas SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording) is more cost-effective for cold storage but may suffer in random write performance.

Ensure the products carry CE, FCC, and VCCI certifications for electromagnetic compatibility. For environmental compliance, RoHS and REACH certifications are mandatory for the EU market. Additionally, verify the MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) rating; enterprise drives should ideally offer 2.0 to 2.5 million hours to ensure long-term ROI.

Request the Serial Number (S/N) list from the supplier before shipment and verify them on the official Western Digital warranty check portal. Authentic products will show a valid warranty status and matching region codes. Be wary of 'Recertified' or 'White Label' drives being sold as 'New Retail'—always confirm the Product Health Status (S.M.A.R.T. data) via a sample test.

HDDs are highly sensitive to physical shock and static electricity. Ensure the supplier uses anti-static bags for each unit and customized foam inserts for bulk cartons. For large orders, palletizing with shrink wrap is recommended to prevent mishandling during transit. Always insist on Full Cargo Insurance to cover potential DOA (Dead on Arrival) scenarios caused by logistics.

HDD pricing is highly volatile and tied to global NAND/component costs. To get the best rate, leverage volume-based pricing (e.g., 500+ units) and ask for 'Project Pricing' if you are a long-term distributor. Mentioning a target price based on current market indices can help in negotiations. Also, consider FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over your shipping costs.

Use Secured Payment services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released after delivery confirmation. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts. For first-time large orders, hire a third-party inspection agency (like SGS or Intertek) to perform a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) to verify quantity, packaging, and serial numbers.

Check the HS Code (typically 8471.70) for import duties in your specific country. Be aware of Export Control Regulations and ensure the supplier provides a formal Commercial Invoice and Packing List that matches the physical goods to avoid customs delays. Some regions may require a Certificate of Origin to benefit from preferential tariff rates.
