Antique lighting manufacturers

When selecting antique-style lighting, prioritize solid brass, copper, or wrought iron over plated alloys to ensure longevity and authentic patina. For glass components, specify hand-blown or seeded glass to maintain the vintage aesthetic. Technically, ensure the internal wiring is high-temperature resistant (up to 105°C) and that sockets are made of ceramic or heavy-duty phenolic resin rather than cheap plastic to prevent melting under heat.

Compliance is critical for electrical goods. For the US market, ensure products are UL (Underwriters Laboratories) or ETL listed. For the European market, CE marking and RoHS compliance (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) are mandatory. Always request valid test reports from the supplier that match the specific model numbers you are purchasing to avoid legal liabilities and customs seizures.

Request a salt spray test report to verify the corrosion resistance of the finish, especially if the lights are for outdoor or coastal use. The finish should be protected by a high-quality electrophoretic lacquer or clear powder coating to prevent oxidation. Ask for high-resolution photos or a live video inspection to check for consistency in the 'distressed' look across a bulk batch, as manual finishing can lead to significant variance.

Confirm that the voltage range (e.g., 110V-120V for North America, 220V-240V for Europe/Asia) and socket types (E26, E27, or B22) are correctly configured for your target region. For LED-integrated antique lamps, ensure the Color Rendering Index (CRI) is above 80 and the Color Temperature is between 2200K and 2700K to replicate the warm glow of traditional carbon filament bulbs.

The biggest risk is breakage of glass shades and structural bending. You must mandate 5-layer corrugated export cartons with custom-fit EPE foam or molded pulp packaging. For high-value orders, insist on palletization with plastic wrap to prevent rough handling during transshipment. Always include a 1-3% spare parts ratio for glass components in your contract.

Utilize Secured Trading Services offered on the platform to ensure your payment is only released after you confirm receipt and quality. When negotiating, define a clear inspection clause: state that a third-party pre-shipment inspection (PSI) will be conducted, and the balance payment is contingent on a 'Passed' report. This significantly reduces the risk of receiving sub-standard goods.

Antique lighting is often bulky; therefore, calculate the volumetric weight before choosing a shipping method. For large volumes, Sea Freight (FOB) is most economical. Check the HS Code (typically 940511 or 940519) against your country's tariff schedule to anticipate duties. If sourcing from China, verify if your country has any Anti-Dumping Duties on specific ceramic or glass lighting components.

Look for 'Audited Suppliers' on Made-in-China.com, as these have undergone on-site verification by independent agencies like SGS or Intertek. Review their Business License and Export License. A professional manufacturer should be able to provide IES files (for light distribution analysis) and have a dedicated Quality Control (QC) team rather than just a sales office.
