Cadmium manufacturers

Cadmium is a versatile transition metal primarily used in the production of Ni-Cd (Nickel-Cadmium) batteries, which are essential for emergency lighting and power tools. It is also widely utilized in electroplating to provide exceptional corrosion resistance for aerospace and military components. Additionally, it serves as a critical stabilizer in PVC plastics and a key ingredient in high-performance pigments (yellow, orange, and red) for glass and ceramics due to its thermal stability.

Buyers should specify the required form, such as ingots, balls, or sticks, and focus on purity levels, typically ranging from 99.9% (3N) to 99.999% (5N). For semiconductor or specialized alloy applications, ultra-high purity (5N+) is mandatory to prevent electrical interference. Always request a Certificate of Analysis (COA) to verify the maximum allowable limits of impurities like lead, copper, and thallium.

Due to its toxicity, Cadmium is strictly regulated. Buyers must ensure products comply with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) for the EU market and the RoHS Directive, which limits cadmium content in electrical and electronic equipment to 0.01% by weight. Suppliers must provide a comprehensive Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and adhere to ISO 14001 environmental management standards to ensure responsible production.

Professional sourcing involves verifying the supplier's smelting license and environmental permits. It is recommended to prioritize suppliers on Made-in-China.com who hold Audited Supplier status. Conduct third-party lab testing (e.g., SGS or Intertek) on random samples from the batch to confirm that the chemical composition matches the provided specifications before final payment.

Cadmium is classified under UN Class 6.1 (Toxic Substances) for international transport. It requires UN-approved specialized packaging to prevent leakage and oxidation. Buyers must ensure the freight forwarder is certified to handle Dangerous Goods (DG) and that all maritime or air freight documentation includes the correct Proper Shipping Name and Hazard Class labels.

Cadmium prices are influenced by global mineral supply and environmental policies. To mitigate risk, consider long-term supply contracts with fixed pricing or use Letter of Credit (L/C) as a payment method to ensure funds are only released upon verification of shipping documents. Utilizing the Secured Trading services on Made-in-China.com can provide an additional layer of financial security.

Many countries impose import quotas or special duties on heavy metals. Buyers should check the HS Code (typically 8107) against their local tariff schedule. Furthermore, ensure the supplier provides a Conflict Mineral Reporting Template (CMRT) if required by your corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies to prove the material was ethically sourced.

Focus negotiations on purity consistency and lead times rather than just the lowest price. Request a tiered pricing structure based on volume, as bulk orders exceeding 5-10 metric tons often qualify for significant discounts. Demand transparency regarding the origin of the raw ore to ensure long-term supply chain stability and compliance with international ESG standards.
