Clothing bales manufacturers

In the second-hand clothing industry, grading is the most critical factor. Grade A or Cream Grade items should show no signs of wear, stains, holes, or fading, often including brand-new items with tags. Grade B items may have minor washable stains or slight pilling but remain functional. It is essential to request a detailed packing list that specifies the ratio of categories (e.g., 40% summer dresses, 30% t-shirts) to ensure the bale meets your market demand.

Standard clothing bales are typically compressed using hydraulic baling machines into weights of 45kg, 55kg, 80kg, or 100kg. You must verify the bale wrapping material (usually transparent or colored woven PP bags) and ensure they are secured with high-strength plastic or metal straps to prevent bursting during sea transit. For high-end 'Cream' grade items, ask for small 25kg sacks to minimize deep wrinkling caused by extreme compression.

Most countries require a Fumigation Certificate and a Health/Sanitary Certificate to prove the clothing has been professionally disinfected. Ensure the supplier uses non-toxic disinfectant chemicals that leave no strong residual odors. Additionally, check if your destination country has specific import bans on used textiles or requires a Certificate of Origin to benefit from preferential tariff rates.

Since clothing bales are sold by weight, there is a risk of receiving outdated styles. Prioritize suppliers who offer 'Current Fashion' sorting, which filters out items older than 3-5 years. Request live video inspections of the sorting line or random bale openings via video call to verify that the styles align with your target demographic (e.g., European/US styles vs. Asian fits).

The primary risk is 'Weight Padding', where suppliers include heavy, low-value items like rags, stones, or wet clothes to meet weight targets. To mitigate this, only work with verified suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have a proven track record. Another risk is Grade Inflation, where Grade B items are mixed into Grade A bales; always insist on a third-party pre-shipment inspection (PSI) to verify quality before the container is sealed.

Pricing is usually quoted per kilogram or per bale. For 20ft or 40ft HC containers, you should negotiate for volume discounts of 10-20%. Regarding shipping, use CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) if you are a new buyer, but transition to FOB (Free On Board) once you have a reliable freight forwarder to better control local clearing costs. Ensure the Bill of Lading clearly states 'Used Clothing' to avoid customs classification issues.

Never pay 100% upfront. The industry standard is a 30% deposit via a secure payment gateway and the remaining 70% against the copy of the Bill of Lading (B/L). Using the Secured Trading services on Made-in-China.com provides an extra layer of protection, ensuring your funds are only released when shipping documents are verified.

Used clothing is often a sensitive category. You must provide a detailed packing list, commercial invoice, and disinfection certificate. Some regions, particularly in Africa and Southeast Asia, may require an Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN) or a Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC). Consult with a local customs broker to ensure you have the correct HS Code (typically 6309.00) to avoid heavy fines or cargo seizure.
