Hay tedder rake manufacturers

When evaluating a hay tedder rake, you must prioritize working width and rotor count to match your tractor's horsepower and field size. Look for machines with high-strength spring steel tines (typically 9-10mm diameter) to ensure durability against soil impact. The gearbox is the heart of the machine; ensure it is a heavy-duty, oil-immersed design to minimize maintenance. Additionally, verify the hydraulic folding mechanism for transport safety and the adjustable spreading angle to accommodate different crop densities.

For cross-border procurement, prioritize suppliers who provide CE certification, which is mandatory for the European market and a sign of general safety compliance. Ensure the product adheres to ISO 4254-1 for agricultural machinery safety. You should also request material test reports for the frame to confirm the use of Q345B or higher grade structural steel, ensuring the rake can withstand high-torque operations without structural fatigue.

To maximize forage quality, look for tedders with asymmetrical tine lengths, which allow for more even spreading of the crop. A boundary spreading device (either manual or hydraulic) is essential to prevent hay from being thrown into fences or ditches. For multi-purpose use, consider combination tedder-rakes that allow you to switch between spreading and windrowing by simply adjusting the tine angle and rotor speed, providing higher ROI for small to medium-sized farms.

Reliable performance depends on daily lubrication of grease nipples on the rotors and universal joints. Choose models with tine loss protections (safety cables) to prevent broken tines from entering balers or forage harvesters, which can cause catastrophic downstream equipment failure. Suppliers should provide a comprehensive spare parts kit, including extra tines, bolts, and springs, to minimize downtime during the critical harvest window.

Always utilize third-party inspection services (such as SGS or BV) to conduct a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI). This ensures the technical specifications, welding quality, and paint finish match the agreed-upon contract. Furthermore, sourcing through reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com allows you to verify the supplier's Audited Supplier status and business license, significantly reducing the risk of fraud.

Since hay tedders are bulky, shipping costs can significantly impact the landed cost. Negotiate for SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) packaging to maximize container space and reduce freight charges. When discussing price, request a breakdown of the Bill of Materials (BOM) for large orders and aim for FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over the shipping line and transit times. For first-time buyers, a 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) is a standard and secure payment structure.

Check the HS Code (typically 843320) for import duties in your specific country. Be aware of anti-dumping duties that may apply to steel products from certain regions. Ensure the supplier provides a Certificate of Origin (CO) to take advantage of any Free Trade Agreements (FTA) that could reduce or eliminate import tariffs. Additionally, confirm that the wooden crates used for packing are ISPM 15 certified (fumigated) to avoid customs delays or rejection at the port of entry.
