Iron metal door manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize hot-dipped galvanized steel or wrought iron to ensure maximum corrosion resistance. For the door frame, a thickness of at least 12-gauge (2.5mm) is recommended for structural integrity. Ensure the scrollwork is hand-forged rather than cast iron if high detail and durability are required. Additionally, verify that the polyurethane foam insulation is injected into the core to enhance thermal efficiency and soundproofing.

To prevent rust, especially in coastal or humid regions, the door must undergo a multi-stage finishing process. This typically includes sandblasting, hot-zinc spraying, epoxy primer, and a fluorocarbon (PVDF) paint or powder coating. Ask for a salt spray test report (ASTM B117) to confirm the finish can withstand at least 500 to 1,000 hours of exposure without degradation.

For North American markets, ensure the glass inserts are tempered safety glass complying with ANSI Z97.1. If the doors are intended for fire exits, they must have a UL 10B or 10C fire rating. For security, check for multi-point locking systems and heavy-duty ball-bearing hinges that can support weights often exceeding 150kg per leaf.

Customization significantly impacts price; however, sourcing from Made-in-China.com allows for OEM/ODM services at a fraction of local costs. To optimize TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), request knock-down (KD) frames to reduce shipping volume and freight costs. Aim for a bulk discount of 10-20% when ordering more than 10 units, and always factor in the cost of specialized installation tools which may need to be shipped with the product.

Iron doors are heavy and prone to scratches. Insist on five-layer packaging: a protective film, EPE foam, a heavy-duty cardboard box, and a sealed wooden crate (fumigated). Ensure the supplier uses steel strapping to secure the doors within the crate to prevent shifting during sea transit.

Focus on technical transparency. Ask for detailed CAD drawings before production and tie payment milestones to the approval of these drawings. Use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services to hold funds until the third-party pre-shipment inspection (PSI) confirms the dimensions and finish quality match the agreed specifications.

Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) that some regions apply to steel products; check your local HS Code (typically 7308.30) regulations. For shipping, LCL (Less than Container Load) is common for small orders, but FCL (Full Container Load) is significantly safer and more cost-effective for orders exceeding 5-8 doors due to the reduced handling of the fragile glass components.

Establish a 7-day inspection window upon arrival. If defects are found, provide high-resolution video evidence of the unboxing process. Professional suppliers on Made-in-China.com usually offer a 1-3% spare parts allowance (such as extra touch-up paint, weather stripping, or glass clips) to resolve minor transit issues immediately.
