Titanium optical glasses frames manufacturers

Pure Titanium (over 99% purity) is exceptionally lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and hypoallergenic, making it ideal for users with sensitive skin. Beta Titanium is an alloy that offers superior flexibility and memory properties, allowing the temples to bend without deforming. For B2B buyers, Beta Titanium is often preferred for active-wear styles, while Pure Titanium is the gold standard for premium, high-end optical collections.

To ensure market access and consumer safety, frames must comply with ISO 12870, which specifies requirements for unglazed spectacle frames. For the US market, registration with the FDA as a Class I medical device is required. For the EU market, products must carry the CE mark and comply with EU Regulation 2017/745 (MDR) and REACH standards to ensure nickel release levels are within safe limits.

Authentic titanium does not react to magnets. Buyers should request a Material Analysis Report (Spectroscopy) from the supplier. Additionally, check the welding points: titanium requires vacuum oxygen-free welding, which leaves a clean, 'step-like' mark, unlike the messy solder joints found on monel or nickel frames. Always ask for samples to perform a salt spray test to verify corrosion resistance.

IP (Ion Plating) is the industry-leading technology for titanium, offering a coating that is harder and more wear-resistant than traditional electroplating. For high-end orders, specify PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating, which ensures the color remains vibrant and does not peel even after prolonged contact with skin oils and sweat.

The primary risk is material substitution, where suppliers mix titanium with cheaper alloys to reduce costs. To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services and insist on third-party inspections (like SGS or TÜV) before the final balance payment is made. Ensure the contract specifies the exact percentage of titanium content.

Titanium production involves complex tooling. Standard MOQs usually range from 300 to 500 pieces per model. To lower risk, negotiate a 'Trial Order' of 100 pieces at a slightly higher unit price. Typical lead times for titanium are 60-90 days due to the difficult machining process; always build a 30-day buffer into your inventory planning.

Ensure each frame is packed in an individual polybag or soft pouch, then placed in a divided inner box (usually 10-20 units). For international air freight, use double-walled corrugated outer cartons with reinforced edges. Request the supplier to use moisture-absorbent silica gel packets to prevent oxidation of non-titanium components (like screws) during sea transit.

Check the HS Code (typically 9003.19) for your specific country to determine import duties. Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties that may apply to glassware or frames in certain regions. Utilizing Made-in-China.com's verified suppliers can help ensure that all Certificate of Origin documents are accurately provided to leverage preferential trade agreements.
