Optical case manufacturers

For high-end luxury markets, prioritize genuine leather or high-quality PU leather with reinforced metal or wooden frames to ensure structural integrity. For mass-market retail, EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) is preferred due to its shock-absorbing properties and lightweight nature. For eco-conscious brands, look for suppliers offering RPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) or cork materials. Always ensure the inner lining is made of soft microfiber or flocked fabric to prevent lens scratching.

Buyers must ensure products comply with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) for the European market to guarantee the absence of harmful substances like lead and phthalates. For the US market, CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) compliance is vital, especially regarding lead content in zippers or decorative elements. Additionally, verify that the supplier holds an ISO 9001 certification to ensure a consistent quality management system.

Request the supplier to perform a hinge durability test, ensuring the case can withstand at least 10,000 opening and closing cycles without failure. For hard cases, a pressure resistance test should be conducted to confirm the case can support at least 15-20kg of weight without collapsing. Furthermore, check the colorfastness of the lining to ensure dyes do not transfer to the eyewear frames when exposed to humidity or heat.

Most professional manufacturers offer OEM/ODM services including logo embossing, debossing, silk-screen printing, or hot stamping. You can also customize the dimensions to fit specific eyewear types like oversized sunglasses or slim reading glasses. Advanced suppliers can provide custom-molded inserts or integrated cleaning cloth compartments to add value to your brand.

The main risks include material substitution (using lower-grade PU instead of specified leather) and odor issues caused by cheap adhesives. To mitigate these, request a pre-production sample and use third-party inspection services like V-Trust or SGS to conduct a Final Random Inspection (FRI) before shipment. Ensure the contract specifies that all materials must be odor-free and non-toxic.

Optical cases are high-volume items; therefore, tiered pricing is standard. Negotiate a lower MOQ (e.g., 500-1000 units) for a trial order by agreeing to use standard stock colors for the exterior material. For bulk orders exceeding 5,000 units, aim for a 10-15% price reduction. Always clarify if the quoted price includes packaging (polybags vs. gift boxes) to avoid hidden costs.

Since optical cases are volumetric cargo (they take up space but are relatively light), Sea Freight (LCL - Less than Container Load) is the most economical for large volumes. If you are sourcing high-end cases in smaller quantities, Air Freight may be viable but expensive. Consider collapsible or 'flat-pack' triangular case designs to significantly reduce shipping volume and logistics costs by up to 40%.

Always conduct transactions through secured payment channels provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com. Utilize Escrow-based services where payment is only released to the supplier after you confirm receipt and inspection of goods. Avoid direct wire transfers to private bank accounts; always ensure the beneficiary name matches the company name on the business license.
